Be Your Lover Forever (Alicia) -
Chapter 1300
Isla nodded continuously, thinking it was a good idea.
She'd be facing an empty house if she went back to her mansion. Plus, she didn't know how to cook, nor could she hire a maid then. Her mother probably didn't have time for her as well, seeing as how she too was having a hard time herself.
really hated them!
She couldn't possibly stay over at her besties' either, could she? Those girls would usually say that they were best friends forever but huh! She couldn't be angrier right then. They watched her make a fool of herself after news of Willy marrying Lauren spread! Oh, she She was still so young, and she wasn't acquainted with Willy at all; could they blame her for losing? The two of them had clearly been in cahoots long ago!
Her mother was right about one thing; take their own side when they should.
Why should she fight her half-sister over a man and let outsiders have a good laugh at them?
No way!
If their fight ended up letting some vixen steal him away, who knew how they would laugh at them in the future?
Isla thought she had made a sage decision the more she thought about it!
Seeing that she didn't even bat an eyelid, at ease, and even somewhat elated at her own suggestion, Lexx looked at her like she was a ghost. "I can't support you; I have to support my girlfriend!"
Hearing that, she stared at him for a couple of seconds before commenting, "How poor are you to not be able to support two women?"
Facepalming, Lexx really wanted to hit his head hard on a wall, thinking, "What sort of brain does this woman have? Isn't 'girlfriend' the point?"
"Bowles doesn't look stingy at all... Is he more generous toward acquaintances but stingy toward his close ones?" He barely knew her, and he didn't even bat an eyelid when he gave her a few ten thousand dollars. Worse comes to worst, she'd only eat and not spend on anything else; it wouldn't cost him much a month!
Isla even quirked her eyebrow, taking a gander at him as she muttered.
"Then let's say that I'm lending you the money; you can deduct it from my allowance for next month. How about that? Don't tell me you're just as poor as I am after paying the 150 thousand, are you?"
Lexx, still reeled in her bewildering mindset, was so close to flipping when Isla suddenly blurted that out. Look at her; did she want him to give her the money or not?
With that, he nodded, playing along.
And the next second, she let out a heavy sigh, "Oh, you poor thing. So you're just as miserable as I am, huh? No wonder you kept stalling instead of giving me the money..."
This affluent young lady sure was rather brainless!
Just as he thought she was going to give up, giving her the side-eye glance, Islas words took a one-eighty, to his dismay, when he looked up.
"Since we're on the same boat, let's stick together this month! I have nowhere I can go, and I'm too embarrassed to find... Didn't he ask you to take care of me? He'll still get you to deal with me if I look for him, right? Isn't that more troublesome? I won't splurge. You just have to give me food; I'll eat whatever you're having, even instant ramen!"
Though she never had them before, hearing that they were unhealthy, they seem to cost only pennies!
Lexx was at a loss for words, encountering such a young lady. She looked so gullible that he'd probably successfully convince her to sell herself in the black market!
Hitting his head, absolutely irritated, he questioned her decision. "Miss Isla, do you know what you're doing? YOU want to live with ME? A straight man?"
"Of course! What's the big deal? Didn't you say you have a girlfriend? You are quite good-looking, I'll give you that... But you have a girlfriend, I'll remember that. Don't worry; I'll explain it to her for you. I won't put you in a difficult position!"
Isla spoke all righteously, but it didn't mean she didn't have her own ideas.
He was Willy's man, and he knew who she was too. So he definitely wouldn't act rashly; no one was safer to be with than him at this time!
She'd be fine too if she went to a
paternal relative, but the main problem was that she'd first be reprimanded, and the rest of the family would definitely learn of it later. They'd bound to point fingers and lecture her. Lauren might take her in if she went to her, but how humiliated she felt to be lectured by a three-year-old! Besides, she was a junior, be it in their place or anyone else's, and she'd highly likely get reprimanded anyhow. She wouldn't be surprised if they brought out old stories too. Absolutely not worth it.
Sticking to him was the best solution! She was only crashing at his place for a month; he wouldn't constantly lecture her, would he?
Alas, what to do when she didn't
have good innate or acquired talents. She didn't have a highly intelligent mother, nor was she as smart or academic as Lauren. She could barely pass her STEM, let alone be a professional. Finally, just when she thought she had a bit of talent in singing, the heavens rained on her parade and gave Lauren an ethereal voice, making her half-sister already famous before she could even make a name for herself.
Just thinking about how Lauren always one-up her already got her feeling miserable, and to add insult to her injury, her half-sister even went and got herself an exceptional husband. She'd be even less likely to catch up to her even if she rode a rocket now! After fuming a couple of seconds and letting out two deep breaths, she decided she'd give up catching up to her since she'd fail anyway, save her from exhaustion as well...
She used to constantly compete with Lauren and even used various means to drive her away, but when she actually did run away from home, her life wasn't any better still. At least things were pretty good at present; at least she still got some money after her father kicked her out!
Six million dollars, for heaven's sake. She could buy and do so many things with it!
Alas, when would she be able to support herself?
While Isla was drowning in her self-abasement, her unintentional words got Lexx amused, beginning to hesitate before he knew it. He was a perfectly straight guy. To live with a woman under one roof...
"Alright, you win! I'll give you next month's money in advance, deal?"
Lexx pulled his wallet out as he spoke, only to be floored by what he was seeing when he opened it. He really had one too many the night before!
He brought his wallet but forgot to attach the cardholder that came with it!
All he had in there, apart from name cards, was the card he used for minor expenses daily, the one he just used to pay the 150 thousand dollars with. In addition to the social engagements he had in the past few days, the card probably had very little money left! With that, he waved it before putting the wallet back into his pocket. "I've probably reached the limit with this card. Give me a number; I'll transfer it to you when I get back!"
Just as he was about to hail a cab, raising his hand, Isla wrapped her arms around him again.
"No way; you're lying to me again!"
"I don't want the money anymore! I want to stick with you! Where am I supposed to find you if you give me counterfeit cash, game money, or a rubber check?"
"Pfft!" Lexx couldn't help being amused. "Game money? I'd love to give you a truckload!"
He was a high-ranking personal assistant no matter how; even more credible than most bosses of small companies by several levels. Who'd thought she'd be skeptical about him?
"That's not what I mean... What if another accident happens? I don't want to go back in again!"
Stepping away from him, she suddenly burst into tears again.
"They're all so mean; none of them would listen to me! They refused even when offered my bracelet as collateral Worst of all, they said my Cartier is a super fake! I'll never eat in that restaurant ever again, and I won't buy anything from QF
anymore. I wouldn't wear them even if I got them for free!"
